Aragon, Spain – 17 June 2015: Team Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS concluded a very productive two-day Moto2 test at the Motorland Aragon circuit this afternoon.

Despite strong winds across the circuit on both days, Tito Rabat and Álex Márquez managed to work their way through an extensive test program, evaluating different suspension and chassis options on their Kalex Moto2 machines.

The two days in Aragon provided the ideal opportunity for Rabat to further refine the set up that took him to victory in Mugello and a podium finish last time out in Barcelona. The reigning Moto2 World Champion was consistently under the lap record on both days and now heads to the next race in Assen confident he can fight for his second win of the season.

For Márquez the main focus of the Aragon test was evaluating different suspension settings and chassis geometry options, something he’s had little opportunity to do during the limited track time available on race weekends. The reigning Moto3 World Champion declared himself happy with his progress during the test and he now heads to Assen more confident in his ability to quickly find a workable set up during race weekends.

Tito Rabat: 1’52.7 – 196 Laps
“Yesterday and this morning I had a really good feeling with the bike and we improved a lot the issues we’ve been having with the front, but we still need to do the same on a race weekend, so there is still work to be done. Despite the wind my rhythm here was good and my lap times were quicker than I’ve ever done at Aragon before. This afternoon we tried a lot of things with the bike, many of which were very positive, so we’re in a good position and I’m now looking forward to Assen next week.”

Álex Márquez: 1’53.5 – 164 Laps
“It was a little bit windy both days, and hot on the second day, but my lap times were good and I think we made good progress during the two days here at Aragon. We tried a lot of things on the bike, making changes mainly to the suspension settings and chassis geometry. I’m happy because there were a lot of positive points and my understanding of how changes affect the bike on track is much greater now. This will be important in the races to come, starting next week with Assen, because it should shorten the time needed to find a workable set up. This was an important test for me and I’m happy with what we’ve achieved.”

“Track time is so limited during race weekends that it’s difficult to evaluate all the options open to us with the suspension and chassis, especially with a rider like Álex who is new to the Moto2 class this year. Over the two days at Aragon we have been able to complete a fairly extensive test program and we leave here with a much better understanding of what does and doesn’t work for Álex on the bike. As a result, refining the set up to suit better the characteristics of each circuit should now be a much quicker process, which is critical when the pressure is on during a race weekend. Overall, it’s been a very positive test indeed.”
