Positive Barcelona test for Team Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS
Team Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS Moto2 riders, Franco Morbidelli and Álex Márquez, enjoyed an intensive but positive one-day test at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya today.
Morbidelli and Márquez focussed on refining the set-up of their Kalex Moto2 machines, as well as evaluating a number of new components and settings from the team’s suspension partner, Öhlins.
Morbidelli also tested changes to the chassis geometry, with positive results, while Márquez worked his way through a particularly extensive test program in preparation for his home race in Barcelona, which takes place from 3 – 5 June.
Both Team Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS riders crashed without injury during the test and are now looking forward to a well-earned weekend off before heading to Le Mans for the French Grand Prix next week.
Franco Morbidelli:
“The main focus today was to improve the set up, working on some geometry and suspension changes that for me worked very well. We also tried a lot of different suspension parts and settings in conjunction with Öhlins. Like always, some things worked and brought improvement while others didn’t but, overall, we definitely made a step forward. We will confirm what did work next week in Le Mans. It’s been a good test, we’ve worked well as a team and we leave with some very useful data ahead of the next race in Le Mans.”
Álex Márquez:
“Today wasn’t really what I was expecting. I like this track a lot, but the conditions in the morning were not so good and I crashed on the front after making a mistake in turn five, which lost me a little bit the feeling with the bike. But in the end it’s been a good day and we managed to test a lot of things on the bike, including some new suspension components from Öhlins. It is difficult to draw conclusions because the conditions were very particular here today, but it’s a good starting point to confirm everything next weekend in Le Mans, where I’m confident we can come away with a good result.”
