Di Meglio makes strong return to MotoE action in Misano
Team Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS returned to FIM Enel MotoE World Cup competition today and Mike di Meglio instantly found himself fighting for the top six at a sun-drenched Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli.
- Hot and sunny early autumn conditions in San Marino meant di Meglio and Team Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS commenced their FIM Enel MotoE World Cup preparations by completing 18 important information gathering laps today.
- The Frenchman was immediately comfortable and confident on the newly resurfaced 4.22km Misano track and on just his second lap of the day he found himself at the top of the leaderboard with a 1:46.786.
- Using the base set-up established at the start of the season in Jerez, di Meglio then shaved another 1.5s off that benchmark on his next two laps and his personal best of 1:45.204 eventually put him seventh and only 0.3s away from the top three.
- Rear suspension modifications to help improve grip enabled di Meglio to further lower his lap times in the second 30-minute session and he ended a successful opening day with a best time of 1:44.666 that kept him in seventh position on the combined standings.

“I am confident I can be closer to the front tomorrow”
“I had a good feeling on the bike right from the first lap in FP1. The work we did was positive and gave me confidence to be strong again in the second session. In FP2 we were able to do some positive work with the tyres and I was comfortably able to improve my lap time from this morning. The pace is not bad and I am confident I can be closer to the front tomorrow and get close to times like high 1.43s which could be the pace for the race.”
