Estrella Galicia 0,0 extends commitment with Marc VDS and Monlau Repsol Technical School
The Spanish brewing company will continue to be part of a comprehensive project that has proved to be among the most competitive in the MotoGP World Championship, with a two-year extension to their agreement.
One of the most successful collaborations in the Motorcycle World Championship announced its renewal on Saturday. The sporting project that sees the image of Estrella Galicia 0,0 closely tied to the Marc VDS and Repsol Technical School bikes will continue in both the 2018 and 2019 seasons.
Estrella Galicia 0,0 will thus continue with a presence in all three World Championship classes, thanks to the renewal of the current collaboration agreement between the internationally renowned brewing brand, belonging to the Hijos de Rivera SAU company, and the two motorsport structures present in the Moto3, Moto2 and MotoGP World Championships.
Since this fruitful collaboration began in the 2015 season, Estrella Galicia 0,0 riders have achieved great success. Jorge Navarro, Aron Canet, Alex Marquez and Jack Miller have won races in Moto3, Moto2 and MotoGP, while this season Franco Morbidelli has provided the structure with it's first title with his Moto2 triumph.
This development makes the Estrella Galicia 0,0 project a strategy with riders in all categories from formation series up, establishing a clear path through which young riders can one day aspire to World Championship wins.
In Moto3, Aron Canet will be joined by Alonso Lopez in the rider lineup. For Canet, this will be a season in which to aim for the title, whilst for Lopez it is the first opportunity to show his potential at Grand Prix level -after a brilliant spell in the FIM CEV Repsol with Junior Team Estrella Galicia 0,0.
Alex Marquez continues in Moto2, with the firm intention of fighting for the Moto2 title. Alongside him will be recently crowned Moto3 World Champion, Joan Mir, who moves up to the intermediate class keen to continue his consistent development.
The Marc VDS team lineup in the MotoGP class undergoes a complete overhaul, incorporating the two fastest Moto2 riders of the present season. Franco Morbidelli will debut in the premier class with a Honda bike, accompanied on the other side of the garage by his top rival for the 2017 title: Experienced Swiss rider Thomas Luthi.
Estrella Galicia 0,0 will also continue supporting the Monlau Competition training project, with Junior Team Estrella Galicia 0,0 in the Moto3 Junior World Championship in the FIM CEV Repsol. Their riders for 2018 in that series will be Jeremy Alcoba and Sergio Garcia.
The brand will also be present in Spanish promotion competitions with the Estrella Galicia School Team 0,0. In the RFME Spanish Cup, the Talent Team composed of Jose Antonio Rueda, Daniel Holgado and Julian Giral will compete with the intention of participating in the current European Talent Cup. At the youngest level, the School Team will consist of Team Diogo Moreira and Adrian Cruces.
Ignacio Rivera / CEO of Hijos de Rivera
“Our presence in the Motorcycle World Championship goes beyond a mere sponsorship agreement. For us, this project is something else. It is a a big dream in which we have placed a lot of effort and excitement. I can only say that our riders keep on giving us reason to keep on dreaming.”
Marc van der Straten / President of the Marc VDS Racing Team
“I am very proud that the Marc VDS Racing Team forms part of the alliance between Estrella Galicia 0,0 and Monlau. I am very happy for this to be continuing for another two years. Together we have created a system that has brought through young riders. This year we have also earned our first title together, winning the Moto2 World Championship with Franco Morbidelli, and this shows that our collaboration is working. Without the passion and commitment of Estrella Galicia 0,0, this project would not have been possible; that is why I would like to thank Ignacio Rivera for his trust in us.”
Michael Bartholemy / Team Principal of the Marc VDS Racing Team
“Obviously I am satisfied with having begun this collaboration with Estrella Galicia 0,0 and Monlau, y que ahora ésta se extienda por dos años más. Resulta muy adecuado que esta renovación con Estrella Galicia 0,0 se firme aquí en Valencia, precisamente celebrando el primer campeonato del mundo de Franco Morbidelli. El sistema funciona y tengo la confianza en que disfrutaremos de mayores éxitos en las temporadas que están por venir”.
Emilio Alzamora / Team Principal of Estrella Galicia 0,0
“It is a source of great satisfaction to be able to announce, at the same place where we presented our project three years ago, the continuation of our strategy with Marc VDS, Estrella Galicia 0,0 and Monlau Repsol Technical School. We are especially pleased to continue giving opportunities to young talents and are proud to see cases like that of Alonso Lopez -who, after being taught in our youth structure, will form part of the Estrella Galicia 0,0 team in Moto3.”
