Successful test day for Mir and Marquez in Valencia
Team Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS riders Joan Mir and Alex Marquez have completed a comprehensive and successful test session at Valencia today.
Sunny and warms conditions allowed the two Spanish riders to complete valuable set-up work on their Kalex machines both for the end of season Valencia GP and also this week’s race at MotorLand Aragon. The Aragon race is on Sunday, September 23 with Valencia on Sunday, November 18.
Fresh from taking a hard fought fifth place at Misano last weekend Joan Mir was back on track at Valencia completing a marathon session of 85 laps.
Alex Marquez used the test day to build confidence and put behind him some recent results with a strong pace while gathering valuable information for a strong finish over the remaining six races.
Alex Marquez:
“We have found some positive solutions, which is quite important, as sometimes at a test you do not find anything new and just work on bike feeling. The track did not offer the good grip we expected, but we have been able to try some new parts that may work quite well for this week’s race in Aragon. I leave Valencia very happy because of this and all my focus is now on next race at MotorLand. Having this good pace in Valencia motivates me a lot. I’m looking forward to forget the recent results and being able to make a great weekend in front of the Spanish crowd and give them a good result.”
Joan Mir:
“It was a positive but long day with the 85 laps giving us the opportunity to try many set-up options. The focus was on my feeling with the bike and also to improve rear grip and I think we found some good solutions. It was a lot of work but I feel we can look forward to being even more competitive in the coming races.”
