A major fire has damaged most of the material used in the FIM Enel MotoE World Cup, and while the competition will go ahead in 2019, a review of the calendar will now be undertaken.

The latest MotoE test has been cancelled after a fire destroyed the new E-Paddock inside the Circuito de Jerez-Angel Nieto Circuit. The fire started in the early hours of Wednesday, which regrettably destroyed bikes, equipment and newly installed facilities set to be used for the FIM Enel MotoE World Cup.

A significant loss of material has resulted from the fire, but thankfully no person was injured during the incident.

Determining the cause and origin of the fire is now the prime objective of the organisation behind the innovative series. A new schedule will be finalised once it is determined when a new fleet of electric motorcycles will be ready for competition after consultation with suppliers.

An additional test planned for mid-April at the Circuito de Jerez-Angel Nieto and the first round of the FIM Enel MotoE World Cup due to take place during the Spanish Grand Prix in May has unfortunately been cancelled.

Due to this incident, it has only been possible to carry out one of the three days of testing planned for this week at the Circuito de Jerez-Angel Nieto. On the first day, Team Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS rider Mike di Meglio set a 1’49.529 to finish with the fourth best time and the Frenchman had a positive feeling on the Energica Evo Corsa machine.
