Di Meglio’s MotoE World Cup charge halted in Misano
An unfortunate technical issue meant Team Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS rider Mike di Meglio was forced to retire early from the first of two FIM Enel MotoE World Cup races taking place at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli this weekend.
- Starting from 17th position on the grid for today’s seven-lap clash, di Meglio made a confident and aggressive start and immediately began gaining places to bring himself into early contention for the top 10.
- The race though came to a premature conclusion for di Meglio, with a minor technical problem forcing him to retire with just one lap completed.
- The Frenchman now sits third in the standings and is just six points adrift of series leader and today’s race winner Matteo Ferrari, and he is determined and focused to show his true potential when race two gets underway at 1005am local time tomorrow.
Mike di Meglio: DNF
“We must quickly forget what happened and remain focussed”
“I made a good start and was trying to be careful not to make any mistakes and managed to pass some riders. But then almost immediately I encountered a problem. I tried to restart the bike and managed to get going again but then the problem returned and that prevented me from continuing. It is a shame but we must quickly forget what happened and remain focused on being strong again in tomorrow’s race. Despite the bad luck, I am still right in the battle for the title and hopefully we can show our normal strong potential tomorrow.”
