Tenth for Tony Arbolino on day 1 of German GP

Tenth for Tony Arbolino on day 1 of German GP

Tony Arbolino twice found himself inside the top ten on Friday at the legendary Sachsenring Circuit, and is confident of a strong qualifying performance on Saturday.

  • Conditions were cool and windy during Friday afternoon’s P1 session at the Sachsenring with ambient temperatures peaking at a modest 18 degrees.
  • Tony Arbolino is the sole rider representing Elf Marc VDS Racing Team this weekend. Filip Salac was finally declared unfit as he has not yet recovered 100% from his Assen crash last Friday and getting back on the bike represented too much of a risk.

  • Building on his best result of the season last weekend in Assen, Tony started the day strongly, placing 8th in the morning FP session, 0.4s off the top.
  • The Italian set his fastest time of the day on his first flying lap of his second run in P1. After some set-up changes aimed at improving his feeling, Tony’s team will revert to their base setting to improve his feeling with the front end on the exit of fast corners before Saturday morning’s P2 session.

“I’m ready to give it my all!”

“We’ve been working quite a lot on the feeling with the tyres here today to give me better rear grip. We made a few changes, which didn’t quite work out as we expected so we then went back to our base, which was better. Overall, I felt fast and strong. We’ll try to give the maximum tomorrow. I just hope we have stable weather so we can keep improving our lap time and have a good qualifying in the afternoon. If we can improve my feeling with the front exiting fast corners then I think we can be really competitive, and continue with this good feeling that we got back in Assen. I’m ready to give it my all!”
