Lowes eager to crack Cremona
Sam Lowes and the Elf Marc VDS Racing Team break new ground this weekend when the WorldSBK Championship makes a historic first visit to the Cremona track in Italy.
- Just days after celebrating his 34th birthday, Lowes is looking to build on an excellent private test session at the MotorLand Aragon recently as he looks for a strong finish to his debut season in the WorldSBK series.
- Four rounds remain in a busy conclusion to 2024, with the first taking place at the 3.7km Cremona track where Lowes completed a successful shakedown test back in May on board Ducati’s Panigale VR 4 machine.
- Lowes will be on track at 1020am local time on Friday morning for FP1.
“I want to be competitive and improve throughout the weekend”
“After the positive test we had in Aragon last week, I’m really looking forward to the Cremona round. That test was the boost we needed after Magny-Cours proved to be a challenging weekend and it means we go into this weekend with a good feeling. The good thing is the Cremona track is not new for me in WorldSBK. We tested there earlier in the season and that is really important for me not having to start from scratch. When we were there earlier in the season, I had a good feeling and found a set-up with the bike that worked well. I’ve no expectations in terms of results. I just want to enjoy riding and being competitive and improve throughout the weekend. I need to get myself fully back up to speed after the injury and continue building the shoulder back to full strength, but we can arrive this weekend with a lot of optimism.”
