Arbolino and Salac set sights on more Misano success

The Elf Marc VDS Racing Team makes a swift return to the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli this weekend as Tony Arbolino and Filip Salac target another strong performance in the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix.

  • Round 14 in 2024 comes before a hectic sequence of five flyaway races in the space of six weeks as the Elf Marc VDS Racing Team goes globe-trotting to Indonesia, Japan, Australia, Thailand and Malaysia before the season finale in Valencia in mid-November.
  • Action in the penultimate European round of the season starts at 950am local time on Friday ahead of Sunday’s 22-lap race at 1115am.

  • Confidence could not be higher for Arbolino heading back to San Marino after he scored podium finishes in the last two rounds in MotorLand Aragon and Misano to sit just 36-points outside of the top three in the World Championship.
  • Arbolino led for nine laps before finishing third from a career first Moto2 pole position in the first of two clashes at the Misano World Circuit earlier this month.
  • Third in the San Marino round is Arbolino’s best Moto2 performance at the 4.23km track and added to his third place finish five years ago in the Moto3 race.

“The speed was there in the first race”

We did a great job in the first race in Misano, and it was a brilliant feeling to finally take my first pole position in Moto2. We proved we were strong and competitive there a couple of weeks ago but now we must focus and work on improving a couple of details that hopefully will help us challenge for the victory. The speed was there in the first race and I’m sure if we can take some small steps forward we can have another positive weekend to kick off this intense period of races.”

/// FILIP SALAC

  • A superb season best seventh place in round 13 at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli means Salac returns to San Marino with morale high and the clear target to feature prominently inside the top 10 once again.
  • Salac heads into his 100th Grand Prix appearance and 50th in Moto2 on a positive run of three successive points scoring finishes and the 22-year-old is focused on maintaining the momentum in the first of two triple header battles in the final phase of the season.
  • Seventh earlier this month was the fourth time Salac has finished inside the top 10 at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli and it was his best result to date.

“I’m sure we can continue this good run”

“I really can’t wait for the second race in Misano this weekend because it is a track that I like a lot. We finished the last weekend there very strongly and my pace in the second half of the race was really good. I feel ready to return and start the weekend picking up where we left off earlier this month. I’m sure we can be very competitive again to continue this good run of results we’re on and with so many races in such a short space of time it is always nice to start with a strong performance.”
