Lowes seeks strong finish to maiden WSBK season
The Elf Marc VDS Racing Team has hopped over the border from Portugal to Spain as Sam Lowes looks to end his rookie WSBK campaign in style at the Circuito de Jerez-Angel Nieto this weekend.
- The 12th and final WSBK showdown of the season sees Lowes arrive in Andalucia in determined mood and eager to use past success at the 4.4km track as an inspiration to end 2024 on a high note.
- The 34-year-old won his first Moto2 race on European soil at Jerez in 2016 and the last of his 10 intermediate class World Championship wins came at the track named after late Spanish legend Angel Nieto in 2023.
- The Briton will start preparations on board the Ducati Panigale V4 R machine in FP1 at 1035am local time on Friday morning.
“Let’s try and finish the season in a positive way”
“I’m looking forward to Jerez. It is a track I know very well, and I’ve always enjoyed riding there. I’ve some great memories of racing at Jerez in Moto2 and the good thing is I’ve already ridden the WSBK machine there, which is going to help having a reference and some information going into the weekend. The last couple of races haven’t gone as we’d hoped but all we can do is put that behind us and carry on working with the same intensity to try and finish the season in the best possible way. I’m looking to finishing the season in a positive way and then using the winter break to recover well and work on improving for next season.”
