“I just tried to win the battle in the group I was in”
“It was a shame to end the season like this. The feeling wasn’t great and I couldn’t get really comfortable on the bike all weekend. At the end, I just tried to win the battle in the group I was in on the last lap. And that’s what I did. So, it was a personal victory and my moment of the race. I have the feeling I scored a personal achievement after that late fight. Overall, I’m quite emotional as I feel this is the end of a chapter for me in my career. I want to thank everyone in the team. They’ve been like an amazing family to me since I joined at the end of 2021. It’s time to start a new chapter and to turn the page but working with this team for the past three years has been amazing.”
/// FILIP SALAC, 5th
- Filip had an exceptional start from 7th on the grid to sit 4th at the close of lap 1, fighting among the leading names.
- The Czech rider was then engaged in a four-rider fight for 3rd place. Although he dropped back of this fight, Filip had excellent rhythm until the end, and finished just 3.4s back of eventual winner Aron Canet.
- Filip’s best dry weather result of the season sees him climb to 16th in the final World Championship standings with 73 points.
“It’s nice to finish like”
“It was the best race of the season for me as the gap to the front at the chequered flag was only 3 seconds! I think I managed everything very well: the start, the first laps, and also the end wasn’t bad. The rear tyre dropped but it was the same for everybody. I’m so happy to get P5 in the end. The guys in the team did an amazing job this weekend. They prepared the bike really well and my feeling was super good. I think it’s very important to finish the season in a good way as it gives you positive feelings for the intense training over the winter. It’s nice to finish like this and I already can’t wait to start next season! I want to say thanks a lot to everyone in the team for this year. I believe it was tough for everyone but I’m sure that next year will be much better!”
