Jake Dixon didn’t feel comfortable when braking during Sunday’s race on Lombok as he finished 9th while Filip Salac retired due to a transmission issue.

The brilliant Pertamina Mandalika Circuit hosted the 18th race of the 2025 Moto2 season with Elf Marc VDS Racing Team riders Jake Dixon and Filip Salac competing over 22 laps.

Conditions were some of the most challenging of the year so far. As well as racing in track temperatures of 60 degrees, the two riders had to deal with 75% humidity.

A total of 67,905 fans came through the turnstiles at the scenic circuit on Sunday to watch the 18th round of 2025.

Jake Dixon, 9th

Launching from 8th on the grid, Jake had a decent start but a mistake when braking for Turn 14 dropped him back to 9th.

From there the Briton struggled to feel comfortable in the track’s numerous braking zones and came home 10th, 15s back of victor Diogo Moreira.

A post-race disqualification for Manuel Gonzalez moves Jake up into 9th place. The result sees Jake maintain 5th in the championship standings with 179 points.

“Tenth isn’t the result we were expecting and it’s nothing to write home about. I gave my absolute everything. But I just didn’t have a great feeling when I was trying to stop the bike today. I tried to make progress early on but the speed just wasn’t there. I gave it my best shot and didn’t really have much more to give. There’s not much more to say. It’s a shame as I was hoping we’d be fighting higher up today. We’ll reset now, go again and see what we can do in the next race in Australia.”

Filip Salac, DNF

Starting from 18th, Filip had a super launch to sit in 13th at the end of the first lap. From there the Czech rider had an eye on the top ten.

Yet the 23-year old would experience persistent issues when downshifting at the end of each lap, which dropped him back to 22nd. With five laps to go he retired.

Filip sits 15th in the championship standings with 82 points.

“What a Sunday here in Indonesia. I had a good start but unfortunately from early on I had some issues with the downshifting. That also caused me to make a mistake in the second last turn where I nearly crashed. I don’t know how I saved it. Then I had the same problem at that corner every lap. So, I was more focussed on that problem than the riding and then in the last lap before I retired I had a big moment which caused me to run off the track. I put the blip and couldn’t engage the gear. I felt it wasn’t safe to continue with this problem. It’s a real shame as my feeling with the setting in the race was much better and there was potential to score a top ten result. But we weren’t able to do it. We’ll try again at the next one.”
