Another brilliant Di Meglio fightback at the Emilia Romagna GP
Mike Di Meglio makes up eleven positions in seven laps in an excellent ride to finish sixth in the second MotoE race at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli.
- A change in grid format for 2020 meant the grid for race two was decided by the results in Saturday’s first race. That meant 32-year old Di Meglio started from 17th position on the sixth row after he crashed out of race one.
- Thanks to the brilliant work of his Team Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS crew, who repaired Mike’s bike and changed the battery for Sunday’s 7-lap race, the Frenchman was immediately competitive.
- The 2008 World Champion started brilliantly, recovered six positions on the first lap and then another three on lap two. Mike then got to the front of a close 5-rider fight on the final lap to finish sixth.
- The result sees Mike climb one place to eighth in the World Cup standings with 35 points to his name.

“I tried to manage the race well and use my head more”
“I tried to manage the race well and use my head more, unlike yesterday. We changed the battery in the bike and that was quite positive because before I was feeling very slow yesterday compared to my normal performance. I managed to pass many riders in the first laps and after I just tried to manage the rear tyre in case I had to battle at the end. I’m really sorry for yesterday because it could have been a podium today. But it’s racing. I want to thank my team because they worked until very late yesterday repairing my bike and I’m very proud of them.”
/// JOAN OLIVÉ, Team Manager:
“Unfortunately, yesterday’s crash hurt us in both races. But today Mike has once again demonstrated his speed by climbing eleven positions in just 7 laps. I’m sure that everything we learned this weekend will help us to finish the season in the best way at Le Mans.”
