Consistent Race 2 in Cremona for Lowes
Sam Lowes put together a solid Race 2 in Cremona to score some good points for 11th, while continuing to gain vital experience aboard his Ducati Panigale V4R and Pirelli tyres.
- Starting from 6th on the grid for the 10-lap Superpole Race, Sam had a tricky first lap and dropped to 12th. After an incident on lap 3, the Briton was 16th. But he could recover from there, to come home in 14th.
- Sam got away from 10th on the grid for the 23-lap Race 2 and found himself in 16th at the end of lap 1. Yet he showed some consistent pace through the 23 laps to climb through to 11th while fighting with Tito Rabat and Scott Redding. In the end, he was just 0.3s off a top 10 place.
- A solid Sunday in Italy means Sam remains 18th in the World Championship with 45 points.

“It was important to see the chequered flag and build experience”
“It was a better Sunday. We went with the race tyre in the Superpole race. Maybe we could have been more competitive with the SCQ tyre. But that was my choice and we got some valuable laps on it. I was quite fast from the middle of the race but we lost too much at the beginning. Then in Race 2, I wasn’t so comfortable. It was a lesson with the front tyre. Once the track gets hot, it’s something I need to improve. I was in a battle and it would have been nice to get in to the top 10, but I got some points on the board. It was important today to see the chequered flag and build experience. After the injury and the way the last few races have gone, it’s important to keep building. Overall, there were more positives today compared to yesterday. Days like today are really important until I make another step with my feeling with the bike and the tyres. Now we’re looking to kick on next weekend at Aragon in a good way.”
