Dixon and Salac fired up and ready to battle in Buriram
The Elf Marc VDS Racing Team starts its 16th season in the Moto2 World Championship in Thailand this weekend, with Jake Dixon and Filip Salac eager to impress in round one of an historic 22 round campaign in 2025
After five fruitful days of winter testing in Portimao and Jerez, Dixon and Salac can’t wait to go racing again in a much-anticipated season opener at the Chang International Circuit in Buriram, which stages the opening round for the first time.
Dixon and Salac kick off preparations for the opening race on Friday morning with FP1 at 950am, with lights out for the first Grand Prix scheduled for 1315pm on Sunday afternoon.
Jake Dixon
The Briton starts his seventh season in Moto2 determined to prove he is one of the leading candidates for title glory in 2025 after he showed great promise and potential on the new Boscoscuro chassis in pre-season testing.
The 29-year-old was the fastest Boscoscuro rider in both Portimao and Jerez but now the focus is fixed firmly on challenging for a first Buriram podium to mark his Elf Marc VDS Racing Team debut in style.
Dixon took the chequered flag seventh in his 100th Moto2 race in Buriram last October and he missed the podium by just 0.1s in a dramatic encounter in 2022.
“I can’t wait to start this new challenge”
“It’s always a special feeling to be starting a new season and it feels even more so this year because I’m making my competitive debut with the Elf Marc VDS Racing Team. It’s cool to start in Thailand as well because the fans in this part of the world are so passionate. It has been a winter of learning and adapting for all of us with the change to the Boscoscuro chassis and I’m satisfied with the progress we made. I’ve no doubt we have a lot more potential to unlock from this package and we just need time and experience. It looks like the weather is going to be incredibly hot this weekend, but I feel in great shape physically and I can’t wait start this new challenge.”
Filip Salac
With a productive pre-season under his belt on the new Boscoscuro, Salac arrives in Thailand ready to make a flying start to his second season with the Elf Marc VDS Racing Team.
The Czech rider is hoping hard work in winter testing will reap instant rewards at a
Buriram track where he’s fond memories of racing at in the past.
Salac mastered treacherously wet conditions in 2022 to finish second and he has scored points in all four previous appearances at the Chang International Circuit.
“I’ve got some great memories of Buriram”
“It’s time to go racing again and I’m feeling optimistic coming to Thailand that we can make a good start to the new season. Changing to the Boscoscuro has been a big challenge but I felt on each day in testing we were understanding more what we need to be fast and competitive. It is clear the learning process is not complete, but me and the team are working well together to make sure we are in a position to be fighting for the places we should be from round one. I’ve some great memories of Buriram with the podium in 2022 and it is a track I have always enjoyed racing at. The Thai fans create a brilliant atmosphere and hopefully I can put on a good show for them this weekend.”
