Fighting French fifth for Dixon at Le Mans

Jake Dixon just finished off the podium at the French GP after being involved in a close 5-rider fight for 3rd, while Filip Salac wasn’t far behind in 7th.

The famous Le Mans rain arrived on Sunday morning before racing began. But warm, muggy conditions ensured the track was dry for the Moto2 race, which kicked off at 12.15 local time.

A record attendance showed up at the Le Mans Circuit on Sunday to watch the 6th round of the 2025 season. 120,403 people were present on race day with a total of 311,797 spectators attending the French Grand Prix over 4 days.

The pace at the front was red hot throughout the 22 laps with this year’s race winning time some 15 seconds quicker than last year’s race.

Jake Dixon, 5th

Starting 6th, Jake got a fantastic getaway and gained 3 places on the run to the Dunlop Chicane for the 1st time. He ended lap 1 in 3rd.

The Briton was then involved in an exciting 5-rider fight for 3rd place. After dropping back to 6th on lap 16, he overtook Albert Arenas 2 laps from the flag and just ran out of time to try passes on Aron Canet and Diogo Moreira ahead.

The result means Jake stays 3rd in the World Championship with 77 points.

“It was a good, solid race in the end. Coming into it, I was hoping for a little better. We got a good start and were right in the mix early on. The leaders were there but, ultimately, I just couldn’t run that pace. A few riders came past me and I was saving something for a late push. I was able to recover one place but just didn’t have enough to get onto the podium. It’s a bit frustrating. But we scored important points and it was another decent finish. I didn’t leave anything out there on track today and that was all we had this weekend. I just want to say a massive thanks to the team. They worked their socks off all weekend long. We’ll have a few days of break and I’m really excited to go to my home Grand Prix now.”

Filip Salac, 7th

Filip enjoyed a brilliant launch from 7th on the grid and the front of the 3rd row. The Czech rider positioned himself well to sit 4th at the end of lap 1.

The Czech rider was able to hang on to the back of the fight for 3rd throughout the race. But he ultimately lacked feeling in the heavy braking zones to make any moves forward.

Filip’s best result of the season sees him jump to 14th in the World Championship with 28 points.

“It was a nice race. I had a good start as did Jake. We were running third and fourth. And I was just waiting in those early laps thinking that the second half of the race would be better for us. I was confident in our ability to manage the rear tyre. But in the end, it didn’t pan out like that. We were struggling more than the other guys. I had problems when trying to stop the bike in a straight line because I was sliding, and the rear of the bike was like spinning a lot on entry. That was my main problem. Anyway, it was a solid P7. We weren’t too far from the podium and I’m happy with the good job we did today. Jake and I were the top two Boscoscuros so let’s keep working and we’ll find something else for the next one. As always, I want to say thanks to the team for all their hard work this weekend.”
