Filip Salac took 10th place on a tough day for the Elf Marc VDS Racing Team as Jake Dixon crashed out when fighting for 4th.

After riding in searing ambient temperatures of 37 degrees on Friday and Saturday afternoon, there were cooler temperatures of 29 degrees on Sunday when the Moto2 race got underway on Sunday at 18.15 local time.

22,565 fans were in attendance at the Lusail International Circuit on Sunday to watch the 4th round of the 2025 Moto2 World Championship.

Front tyre choice was a lottery for the 18-lap race with both the soft and medium options open. Both Filip and Jake opted for the softer choice.

Jake Dixon, DNF

Launching from 2nd on the grid, Jake enjoyed a good start and held position, but was then pushed back to 5th on lap 3, where he was in the midst of a hectic 9-rider fight for victory.

After recovering some places, Jake found his rhythm mid-race and was chasing down Manuel Gonzalez in 4th when he crashed out at Turn 13 on lap 12.

Jake’s first non-score of the year means he now sits 3rd in the World Championship with 59 points.

“It was an unfortunate day but these things can happen and I just need to learn from it. Ultimately, we had a great weekend here. I made a tiny mistake and went wide and on to the kerb and a dirty part of the track and I went down. It’s racing. But it’s not how we get knocked down, it’s how we get back up that determines how the rest of the year goes. I’ll be strong. I have a strong team around me. We were riding well here, riding fast. I’m just looking forward to getting back out there and enjoying myself on the bike again. I’m sorry to the team but let’s see what we can do in the next races.

Filip Salac, 10th

After qualifying 8th on Saturday, Filip held his position in the opening laps before dropping back to 11th.

The Czech rider then caught his breath before engaging in a 4-rider fight just outside the top 6. In the end, Filip came home 10th, just 1s back of Celestino Vietti in 7th.

Filip’s 10th place sees him climb to 14th in the World Championship with 13 points.

“The race is done. I had a good start. But from lap one I was losing a lot in the triple right handers in the last part of the track. I was missing a bit of edge grip with the front tyre to help me turn the bike. But it wasn’t bad. We finished the race in the top ten. We got some points after two DNFs in the last two races. The bike set-up was good – it’s just this track was difficult for the front tyre for us. So, we just need to be ready for the next one, which I’m really looking forward to. I want to say thanks to the team for all their work this weekend. In Jerez we’ll go again.”
