Lowes aims high at historic Assen

Elf Marc VDS Racing Team rider Sam Lowes takes on one of the most iconic venues in world motorsport this weekend when the third round of the 2025 WorldSBK Championship comes from the legendary Assen track in the Netherlands.

Lowes has made an impressive start to his second season on board a Ducati Panigale V4R with four top 10 finishes in the opening six races of the campaign, including a WorldSBK best fifth in the Superpole Race in Australia.

The Briton is now looking forward to delivering another competitive weekend at Assen, with track action underway with FP1 on Friday morning at 1020am local time.

Lowes comes to the historic Cathedral of Speed eager to impress after his sixth place finish in Race 2 at Assen last season was the best result of his debut campaign in WorldSBK.

One of the 34-year-old’s six wins on his way to claiming the 2013 WorldSSP title came in front of the Dutch fans and one of his 26 podium finishes in the Moto2 World Championship was at Assen a decade ago.

Lowes was also in the podium battle in Moto2 in 2016 and 2021 and he is looking forward to being in the hunt for the top three again this weekend.

“Assen is fast and flowing and suits my style”

“Assen is such a great track to ride, and I’ve got a lot of experience there. The fast and flowing nature of the track suits my style and I’m just looking forward to continuing the positive start we’ve made to the season. Apart from the mistake in Race 1 in Portimao I’ve been happy with my performances, and it has been a solid start to the year. The team have been doing an amazing job, and I am sure we can have another positive weekend in Assen. My aim is to be in that battle between fourth and eighth position and build up confidence so hopefully soon we can take that next step and be fighting for the podium.”
