Luthi rides to the finish in lonely Assen race
Team Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS rider Tom Luthi finishes 20th in the Dutch TT with teammate Franco Morbidelli on the sidelines with a hand injury.
A sun drenched Assen hosted a classic contest for the Dutch TT in ideal conditions with Luthi getting to the finish after a difficult weekend.
This was a brave and determined ride by Luthi who struggled to find a comfortable balance with his Honda RC213V on the fast and unique layout of the Assen circuit.
Luthi started 22nd on the grid knowing he faced a long and difficult race and his sole focus was on completing the 26 laps. The Swiss rider stayed out of trouble to finish two places ahead of his starting spot.
Franco Morbidelli was a spectator today as he recovers from a fracture in his left hand suffered when he crashed in Saturday’s FP3 session.
Tom Luthi: 20th
“This race was not a lot of fun for me. Right from the start there was nothing I could do, when I tried to push I felt the bike getting out of control and could not stay with the group ahead. So my focus in the race was to work on my riding style, changing position on the bike and concentrate on finishing the race. Now we have an important test day in Brno where I want to try many things including some electronic set-up before the race in Germany.”
