Filip Salac was 13th at the close of Q2 at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit and Jake Dixon 17th, but both will give their all in their final race for the team on Sunday.

After a year’s absence, the MotoGP paddock is back at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit for the first time since 2023, with the track’s legendary grandstands close to capacity on Saturday.

Conditions improved compared to Friday, with the track dry all day and ambient temperatures a moderate 20 degrees by the time qualifying started at 13.40 local time.

The 22nd and final Moto2 race of the season will kick off at its usual time at 12.15 local time on Sunday and will be held over 22 laps.

Jake Dixon, 17th – 1’32.527

Jake’s posted a 19-lap run in FP2 as he sought improvements with tyre conservation. He put together a competitive stint, but still felt he could improve on used rubber.

In Q2, the pace was fast from the off and Jake got to within 0.4s of provisional pole on his first run.

But he caught traffic at the wrong time, which meant he was unable to improve on his second. Despite being just 0.8s off Dani Holgado’s new lap record, he was 17th.

“The last Saturday of my time in Moto2 is done. It was a difficult day, honestly. Yesterday was a positive day when you look at where we finished. But the reality was I struggled with tyre life. Then today I struggled with that even more in FP2. And it wasn’t an ideal situation in qualifying. But that’s life. That’s how it goes sometimes. Tomorrow is a new day. We’ll have one more go at racing in Moto2. We’ll go all in and let’s see where we end up.”

Filip Salac – 13th – 1’32.318

In need of some improvements with the front of his bike after Friday, Filip felt more at home in FP2 when he posted a 16-lap run and placed 15th overall.

15th on Friday afternoon meant Filip was in Q1. But the Czech rider posted strong times alone toward the end of that session to place 4th and progress to Q2.

The 23-year-old was immediately competitive in Q2 and sat on the provisional front row after his first run. But a lack of rear grip hindered him on his second, and he was pushed back to 13th.

“It was a good Saturday. In the morning we tried to do a long run. I was struggling a bit with the rear tyre. It was fading a bit too much and the grip was not perfect. In Q1 I went through by doing a good lap time, which I did alone. In Q2 I did another good lap time at the beginning. But from there, I wasn’t able to put it all together. Also, I felt more spin from the rear. Nothing is lost from 13th. I hope we can enjoy the race tomorrow. For sure, it going to be fun.”
