Team Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS renew partnership with Total
The 2017 season marks a continuation of the partnership between Team Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS and Total, after a new three year agreement was reached with the French fuel and lubricants giant.
As part of the extended partnership the MotoGP machines of Jack Miller and Tito Rabat will run with Elf branding, while the Moto2 machines of Franco Morbidelli and Álex Márquez will feature increased Total branding.
Total has worked closely with the Marc VDS Racing Team since their Grand Prix debut in the Moto2 class back in 2010 and their support was a significant factor in the team being crowned Moto2 Word Champions with Tito Rabat in 2014.
The partnership between Total and Team Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS is far more than a simple sponsorship agreement. The two parties work closely together on technical development to ensure that they maintain a significant technological advantage over their racing rivals.
Total is also the official fuel supplier to both the Moto2 and Moto3 World Championships.
Michael Bartholemy: Team Principal
“Total have been with us from the very beginning, with the relationship spanning 12 years, well before we made our debut in the Moto2 World Championship. With Total it is not simply a case of putting their logos on our bikes, the partnership extends much further than that. We work closely together on the development of the fuels and lubricants we use in both MotoGP and Moto2, with the racing team providing the data and feedback and Total providing the technical expertise to ensure we stay ahead of the competition. It is this process that was such a significant factor in 2014, our most successful year in the intermediate class to date, when we finished first and second in the Moto2 World Championship. I hope we can repay their confidence in us with an equally successful season this year.”
Pierre-Gautier Caloni: Vice President Sponsoring and Motorsport Division
“We are extremely proud that Team Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS will continue to use speciality products, racing fuels and lubricants supplied by Total and Elf as they contest both the MotoGP and Moto2 World Championships. And the partnership couldn't have got off to a better start this year, with Franco Morbidelli claiming victory in the Moto2 race at the opening round of the championship in Qatar. It was Franco's first World Championship win and, while Total have a winning pedigree in four-wheeled motorsport, this was the first time that we have stood on the top step of the podium in a World Championship motorcycle race. I am confident that Franco's win will be the first of many and we are looking forward with anticipation to the season ahead with Team Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS.”
