Tony Arbolino picked up where he left off as the second part of 2024 resumed on Friday, when the Italian ended the day with the 3^rd fastest time, while team-mate Filip Salac was 18^th.

• After a three-week summer break, the second part of the 2024 Moto2 season kicked off at the fabulous Silverstone Circuit with Elf Marc VDS Racing Team riders Tony Arbolino and Filip Salac taking part in two sessions – FP and P1 – on Friday.
• Aside from a strong wind, conditions were favourable throughout the day with sunny skies and temperatures approaching 24 degrees in the afternoon.

• It was a strong first day back on the bike for Tony as he ended both sessions inside the top 5 (5^th in FP and 3^rd in P1). His final time could have been even quicker in the afternoon, but the 23-year old had a lap time cancelled when he encountered a yellow flag at Turn 16.
• The Italian’s speed was not in question on Friday. Instead, he is working with his crew on finding a way to successfully conserve his rear tyre for the duration of Sunday’s 17-lap race.

“I’m happy with how today went”

“The first day here at Silverstone was quite important. We haven’t made many changes to the bike; it’s almost the same as what we used at Assen and the Sachsenring. We need to keep building and finding a little extra feeling for the race pace. It’s important we focus on that. Tomorrow, we want to start toward the front and then be there for the race. Tonight, we’ll look into our race pace and how we can conserve the rear tyre in an effective way. Other than that, I’m happy with how today went and am looking forward to qualifying tomorrow.”

• Having missed the past two races, Filip took some time to get up to speed. After finishing FP in 26^th, the 22-year old improved his best lap time by 1.4s in the afternoon to sit 18^th.
• Filip was pushing to improve his time late on in P1 when he suffered a small crash at Turn 16, which brought his session to a close. Thankfully, the Czech rider was unharmed in the fall.

“It was actually a pretty good day. I’m quite happy about it. I was riding alone after being off the bike in the last weeks. Unluckily I had a small crash at the end of practice but other than that I felt good on the bike. I’m quite content with how things have gone. So, let’s check the data tonight and see what we can improve so I have the best chance of qualifying well tomorrow.”
