The undulating and technical Motorland Aragon track in Spain provides the next exciting challenge for Elf Marc VDS Racing Team riders Sam Lowes and Augusto Fernandez

• Motorland Aragon was the scene of a sensational double win for Lowes last year and the Briton is eager to capture more glory at one of his favourite tracks on the World Championship schedule.
• Fernandez will also be looking to maintain his strong recent run of top six finishes when Free Practice gets underway at 1055am local time on Friday morning.

• A fourth successive top six finish in 2021 in the recent British Grand Prix at Silverstone gave a Fernandez a big boost in his push for a top five World Championship finish.
• The Spaniard has made five previous appearances at Motorland Aragon with a best result of eighth place in the Teruel Grand Prix last year, which completed a double header at the 5.07km venue near the historic town of Alcaniz.

“Aragon is a track that I love and for that reason I’m really looking forward to this weekend. It’s another home GP for me and the great news is we’ll be racing in front of fans again. I’m excited to start working again because we did a test at the start of the year in Aragon and it was very positive for me, so I’m confident we can have another good weekend.”

• Lowes was completely untouchable in both Aragon rounds last year and he won both races from pole position to become the first British rider to win three successive intermediate World Championship races since MotoGP Legend Phil Read in 1971.
• Lowes was also victorious from pole at Aragon in 2016 and was third in 2015 and the 30-year-old is fired up and determined to stand on the top step of the podium again in Sunday’s 21-lap race.

“I can’t wait to race in Aragon again after being strong in the last couple of races in Austria and at home in Silverstone. Aragon is a track that I really enjoy and the double win last year means I’ve got lots of nice memories. Every year is different, and it is never easy at this level, and I just need to work hard to give myself the best possible chance on Sunday. I feel like we’ve made some positive steps with the bike recently and I can’t wait to get going in Free Practice on Friday and pushing hard to get that win.”
