Alex Márquez will be looking to make amends for his crash at Silverstone to attempt to extend his lead in the Moto2 World Championship. Xavi Vierge will continue to work hard to fight for the front positions at Misano after a battling ride to 10th in Silverstone.

• Team Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS arrives at the Grand Prix of San Marino and the Riviera of Rimini as series leader with Alex Márquez still in possession of a comfortable advantage over his pursuers.
• This will be the 23rd time this circuit hosts a Grand Prix, which was built in 1969 but didn’t start hosting races until 1980. Somewhat unusually, this track has had several different names. It started as the Santa Monica Circuit before changing to be known as the Misano World Circuit and since 2012 it has been called the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli.
• Márquez and Vierge carried out a good test on the San Marino track two days after the British Grand Prix. That preparation undoubtedly allows the riders of Team Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS to reach the thirteenth round of this year’s World Championship with foundations well established to fight at the front this weekend. 

Alex Marquez:

• Alex Márquez was unable to finish the race at Silverstone as he crashed on lap six.
• Despite not scoring on British soil, Alex continues to lead the overall Moto2 standings with a 35-point advantage. Behind him, Augusto Fernandez, Thomas Lüthi and Jorge Navarro are all tied together on the same number of points.
• The best result of the number 73 at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli in the Moto2 class was 10th place in 2016. However, in Moto3 he achieved two podiums.
• In 2018 Alex Márquez suffered a crash following a touch with Augusto Fernández in the first lap of the race. He got back on the bike and crossed the line in eighteenth position. 

“After a zero it's very important to quickly regain confidence”

“I am very motivated because we did a test here two weeks ago to prepare for the race to the maximum. The truth is that it was very positive because I felt very prepared again and after a zero like Silverstone it is very important to recover confidence quickly. The objective for this weekend remains the same, to arrive as well prepared as possible for the race in which to fight for the top five and try to add the maximum number of points. It's a peculiar circuit, which I like. There is usually little grip due to the high temperatures, so I guess this year will be the same. I'm looking forward to being with the team again to put up a strong fight and make progress in the Championship.”

Xavi Vierge:

• Xavi Vierge crossed the finish line at Silverstone in 10th place after a hard-fought race. Despite not being the desired result, the Catalan rider fulfilled the main objective which was to complete the race.
• With six points on the British track, Vierge is 14th overall now in the points classification.
• In 2018 Xavi finished Misano's race in 10th place and this is the best result the number 97 has obtained racing at this track.

“We arrived well prepared for the Grand Prix”

“It's a circuit that I like very much, although it's a difficult track where the race tends to be very hard and long. However, two weeks ago we did a test here in which tried a lot of things and have a clear base for the set-up. We could also do a race simulation, so we arrive well prepared for the Grand Prix. I'm looking forward to a good weekend. We will work hard from day one to ensure a good grid position and try to fight for the top five in the race.”
