Lowes ready to thrill home crowd in Donington duel
Elf Marc VDS Racing Team rider Sam Lowes will make his first WorldSBK appearance on home soil this weekend when the 2024 campaign resumes with round five taking place at Donington Park.
- This weekend’s action will be the first time the 33-year-old Briton has raced in the WorldSBK paddock in front of his home crowd at Donington since 2013.
- Lowes has wonderful memories of that last appearance 11 years ago after he won the World Supersport race in dominant fashion on his way to clinching the title.
- Lowes is sure to get a great reception from the British fans this weekend when the action gets underway at 1020am local time with FP1.
“It’s always a great feeling to race in front of your home crowd”
“I’ve been looking forward to this weekend as soon as I knew I’d be racing in WorldSBK in 2024 because it is always a great feeling to race in front of your home crowd. Donington is a true home race for me because I live close to the track, and I know the support is going to be amazing. It has been over a decade since I last raced at Donington Park, but I have great memories when I won in World Supersport. The last round in Misano was difficult and certainly not what we’d hoped for, so I’m looking forward to bouncing back this weekend. I’m just looking for three solid races and the chance to enjoy myself and hopefully we can be in the battle for the top five.”
