Bradl and Luthi set for sunny German Grand Prix

Team Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS riders Stefan Bradl and Tom Luthi matched strides to finish 21st and 22nd respectively in qualifying for the German GP

At a clear and sunny Sachsenring track temperatures rose to a hot 45 degrees for qualifying to decide grid positions for tomorrow’s 30 lap race.

Stefan Bradl is replacing the injured Franco Morbidelli and the German rider continued his smooth return to MotoGP in just his second day aboard the Honda RC213V at his home race.

With a best lap of 1’21.802 Bradl qualified 21st which is the same position he finished in the important FP4 session with his bike in race trim.

For Tom Luthi the ideal conditions saw the Swiss rider produce his best lap of the weekend so far with 1’22.012 to secure 22nd on the grid, also equalling his position in FP4.

On Sunday the warm-up session will be at 9:40am with the race scheduled for 2pm.

Stefan Bradl: 21st – 1’21.802

“I’m happy with my faster lap time today but the faster you go the more difficult it becomes. We have made some small changes to the bike but we have not had enough time to fully adapt the bike to my riding style in just three practice sessions. This is my home GP and I’m trying to just enjoy riding the bike so a big thanks to Honda and the team who did a great job today.”

Tom Luthi: 22nd – 1’.22.012

“We found some speed and more grip in qualifying which was positive but my position is too far from the front so it is frustrating and I’m disappointed with my lap time. It has been difficult so far and the race is going to be tricky and tough for rear tyre life so the race choice will be important.”
