Confident Lowes ready to attack in Assen

The third round of the 2024 WorldSBK Championship sees the Elf Marc VDS Racing Team and Sam Lowes take on the legendary Cathedral of Speed in Assen.

  • The Briton is looking to build on an impressive display at the previous round in Barcelona when he led Race 1 and the Superpole showdown in just his second appearance on the Ducati Panigale V4 R machine.
  • One of the 33-year-old’s 26 Moto2 podiums came at Assen back in 2015 and he was also inside the top five in 2016 and 2021 and he’s excited to tackle the iconic Netherlands track for the first time in WorldSBK this weekend.
  • The action commences on Friday morning at 1020am local time with FP1.

“My target is a first WorldSBK podium”

“Assen is a very special track with a lot of history, and I’ve always loved riding there. I’ve been able to get some good results there in the past and I’m looking forward to racing in WorldSBK for the first time. We arrive with a lot of confidence after taking plenty of positives from the last round in Catalunya. I had good speed there, but I know I need to improve in some other areas to show my full potential. Assen will be a very different challenge with lower temperatures and different grip levels, but my target is to get my first podium in WorldSBK. We know the bike works well there and I can’t wait to get started.”
