Di Meglio makes sensational start to MotoE finale

Preparations for the final two races of the 2020 FIM Enel MotoE World Cup commenced at a cold and damp Le Mans today, with Mike di Meglio using his home track expertise to perfection to end the day on top of the timesheets.

  • Team Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS rider Mike di Meglio made the perfect start to the final double-header of the 2020 FIM Enel MotoE World Championship at his home track in Le Mans today.
  • Damp and cool conditions in FP1 this morning meant di Meglio opted to complete minimal laps and wait for more favourable conditions in this afternoon’s second session where he was able to demonstrate fantastic speed and consistency.
  • On a full dry track in FP2, di Meglio fired in a hot lap of 1’44.141 to finish fastest of the 18-rider pack preparing to do battle over two seven-lap races this weekend at the iconic Bugatti Circuit.
  • Only Alex de Angelis was able to lap within a quarter-of-a-second of di Meglio and the number 63 is now ready to fight for a front row start in tomorrow’s decisive E-Pole session to help him compete for a first podium finish of the campaign when race one gets underway tomorrow at 1620pm local time.

“I’m very satisfied to be on top”

“It has been a very good today and to finish fastest in my home track is a great feeling. I didn’t complete many laps this morning because my goal was to just check my feeling on the bike and I have to say I immediately felt great. A lot of riders improved their pace, but I knew we had plenty more potential and that’s exactly what we showed this afternoon. I was confident I could set a very fast time and I’m very satisfied to be on top. We have some different settings to try tomorrow but my pace is strong, and I need to perform well in E-Pole to give myself the best chance to fight for the podium.”
