Dixon and Salac excited for Termas tussle
The Elf Marc VDS Racing Team has made the mammoth journey from Southeast Asia to South America as Jake Dixon and Filip Salac look to build on a strong start to 2025 in Argentina this weekend
The pair opened their account in this year’s Moto2 World Championship with a double top 10 finish in boiling heat in Buriram and are now aiming high in round two at the Termas de Rio Hondo track.
The action gets underway with FP1 at 950am local time on Friday morning before Dixon and Salac go racing over 21 laps at 1315pm on Sunday afternoon.
Jake Dixon
Dixon was the standout Boscoscuro rider in pre-season testing and the British star was the Italian manufacturer’s leading light in the Thai Grand Prix when he took the chequered flag in a battling seventh position.
With a first race under his belt on board the Boscoscuro frame, Dixon is now confident he can push on and join the battle for the top five in what is expected to be hot and low grip conditions in Termas.
The 29-year-old was an excellent fifth in Argentina back in 2022 and two years ago in the last Argentine Grand Prix he mastered treacherously wet conditions to finish in a superb third.
“I expect to be stronger in Argentina”
“I’m looking forward to going back to Argentina. Termas is a track that I really like, and it was good to me last time when I managed to finish on the podium in difficult conditions. Back in 2022 as well I was strong and always fighting in and around the top five, so it is a track that suits me. It was good to gain some more experience with the Boscoscuro in the first race in Thailand and come away with a solid result. We know there is still plenty more to come but I expect to be stronger again this weekend in Argentina and can’t wait to get going.”
Filip Salac
Salac touches down in Termas in high spirits after he produced a brilliant charge through the field from 16th to ninth in Buriram earlier this month.
That result was a clear sign of Salac’s growing confidence with the Boscoscuro package and he is now eyeing a top six challenge in his fourth visit to Termas de Rio Hondo this weekend.
His last race in Argentina in a rain-hit encounter in 2023 showcased the overtaking skills that served him so well in round one in Thailand when he powered through from 13th to seventh.
“I’m hopeful we can make another step in Argentina”
“I can’t wait to get to Argentina for round two and build on what was a positive race for me in Buriram. Termas is a fast and technical track that I really like, and we have seen in the past that the Boscoscuro has worked well there. We have found a good base with the new bike, but we know there is still a lot of room for improvement. We are still early in this project and we need to play with the setting more to help me be faster but after a good performance in Thailand, I’m hopeful we can make another step forward this weekend.”
