Encouraging end to Saturday in Jerez for Lowes
After a tough Superpole session at the Circuito de Jerez-Angel Nieto, Elf Marc VDS Racing Team rider Sam Lowes put together a strong, consistent race to gain four places on his way to a 13th place finish.
- After a promising Friday in Andalusia, Sam had a steady start to Saturday in cool morning temperatures of 16 degrees, as he placed 19th in FP3.
- Temperatures had risen to 20 degrees for the final Superpole session of the year. Despite his strong showings the previous day, the 34-year old couldn’t get completely comfortable aboard his Ducati V4R, as he qualified 17th.
- Despite that, Sam enjoyed a solid start to the race. After ending the 1st lap in 17th, he began to gain positions and had made his way to the front of a 4-rider fight for 13th with 11 laps to go. He ended the race there, which was a solid platform ahead of Sunday’s action, which gets underway with Warm Up at 9.15 local time.

““I will do my best to close the championship with two solid rides”
“It has been a difficult day and to be honest, we expected a bit more. The grip was lower compared to the rest of the weekend, and it took us a bit of time to understand it with the bike at the beginning of the race. At mid-race my pace improved and became quite strong so we will build on that for tomorrow races. I will do my best to close the championship with two solid rides to jump into winter’s preparations to fully recover, get fit and keep going on this fascinating competition in 2025!”
