Home hero Lowes ready to deliver at Donington
A huge home round lies in store for Elf Marc VDS Racing Team star Sam Lowes this weekend as the second half of the 2025 WorldSBK campaign kicks off with the UK round Donington Park
Fresh off signing a new two-year contract to race with Marc VDS in WorldSBK for 2026 and 2027, Lowes is fully focused and fired up to thrill his home fans in what is anticipated to be a weekend of scorching hot weather in the heart of England.
Donington Park hosted the first ever WorldSBK encounter back in 1988 and the action this weekend gets underway with FP1 at 1020am on Friday morning.
Lowes is ready to soak up and enjoy the special atmosphere created by a passionate British crowd this weekend in what is truly a home round for the 34-year-old.
Lowes lives close to Donington Park in the East Midlands region of the UK, and he is determined to put on a strong show for the army of fans roaring on the number 14.
The Briton arrives on home turf on an outstanding run of form, with 10 top 10 finishes in his last eleven starts including a stunning maiden podium in the Superpole race at Assen.
Twelve months ago at Donington Park, Lowes made his first competitive appearance at the 4.02km track since 2013 and he scored a best of eighth in the Superpole clash.
But his brilliant performances so far on the Ducati Panigale V4R machine in 2025 mean expectations are a lot higher at a track where he won the World Supersport race in dominant fashion on his way to clinching the title 12 years ago.
“The British fans always give me great support”
“I’m so excited to be racing at Donington Park this weekend. Racing in front of the British fans is something very special and I’ve always been given great support from the home crowd. Donington is very close to where I live, so I really hope I can put on a performance and come away with strong results. Last year was the first time I’d raced at Donington since 2013, yet I still managed to qualify in fourth position but the races were quite difficult. This year I know more what to expect and my aim is to have three top five finishes and hopefully be in the fight for the podium. The weather looks like it is going to be amazing, so I can’t wait to get going.”
