Lowes motors to podium treble in Aragón
For the second time in this year’s WorldSBK Championship campaign, Elf Marc VDS Racing Team star Sam Lowes claimed a podium clean sweep at the end of a magnificent MotorLand Aragón weekend
After a brilliant third place in Saturday’s Race 1, Lowes shone once again in scorching hot conditions to close out round six in 2026 with a trio of top three finishes
Today’s double podium and the hat-trick for the weekend takes the Briton’s 2026 tally to six, which is a season high in his WorldSBK career after he also collected three third places recently in Assen

Superpole Race: 3rd
Race 2: 3rd
Lowes got the Sunday action underway in spectacular fashion when he surged from fourth to second in the frenetic early stages of the Superpole Race before briefly seizing P1 at the end of lap five of 10.
In an intense fight for the win with factory Ducati pairing Iker Lecuona and Nicolo Bulega, Lowes was less than a tenth-of-a-second off the lead with just two laps remaining before easing to the fifth Superpole Race podium of his career in third.
The full-length Race 2 got underway in sizzling temperatures once again, with the Aragón surface reaching close to 50 degrees when it was lights out for the 18-lap battle.
The 35-year-old immediately slotted himself to a strong third place by the end of lap one and it was a position he never relinquished to take the chequered flag almost six seconds clear of twin brother Alex.
This weekend’s stellar showing has fired Lowes back up to third in the overall World Championship classification on 142-points going into round seven at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli in mid-June.
“We knew we had podium potential and it’s great to get the job done”
“I’m really pleased to leave Aragon with three podium finishes because that was the target coming into this weekend. I really like this track and knew we had the potential to be in the podium fight in all three races, so it is a good feeling to get the job done. It feels like a similar story to the first part of the season where I was missing the pace of the top two, but I was strong enough fast enough to have that bit of an edge over the rest. We’ve got to be happy with the job done and now we can now go to Misano with a lot of confidence. We did a really good test there recently, so we go there aiming to be in that podium battle once again.”
