Solid progress for Lowes as maiden WorldSBK season comes to close
Elf Marc VDS Racing Team star Sam Lowes put together a solid Race 2 in Jerez to score some good points for 14th as his maiden campaign aboard the Ducati Panigale V4R came to an end.
Starting from 16th on the grid for the 10-lap Superpole Race, Sam had a tricky first lap and dropped to 19th. From there, he was able to recover two places, as he fought through to 17th by the chequered flag.
- Sam found himself in 18th at the start of Race 2, held over 20 laps. Yet he showed some consistent pace after that to climb through to 14th while fighting with Xavi Vierge and Tito Rabat. Red flags were brought out 4 laps from the finish due to oil on the track, meaning the 34-year old finished the year in the points.
- A solid Sunday in Andalusia means Sam ends the 2024 season 18th in the World Championship with 53 points.

“I am happy to close it with these two solid rides”
“It has been a difficult weekend in Jerez as we wanted to do better to close the season with stronger results. However, considering how the season has gone through with my shoulder and injuries, I am happy to close it with these two solid rides. Now it’s time to take all the learnings from this year and focus on the next one, improving and understanding the areas where I need to make a step forward. I want to deeply thank all the members of the team, it has not been an easy first year but I have felt their constant support all along the way. We’ll keep working during the winter to start the 2025 season in the best possible way!”
