Successful second pre-season test concludes for Team Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS in Barcelona

Two intense days of testing at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya delivered a positive ending to pre-season testing for Augusto Fernandez and Sam Lowes. Both riders are now ready to face the restart of the World Championship with confidence and expectations high.

  • Team Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS has carried out two days of private testing at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. However, due to restrictions on testing with the official Triumph machinery used in the Moto2 World Championship, both have not been able to work with the Kalex package they will race with again in Jerez on July 19.
  • Fernandez and Lowes focused on accumulating kilometres, building confidence and speed and riding at a constant pace over race distance. The British rider placed special emphasis on improvements in braking, whilst the Mallorcan rider focused on perfecting his riding style.
  • Having finished a long pre-season for the second time in 2020, both feel in great physical shape and are ready to face the first Grand Prix optimistic of challenging for the podium.
  • Team Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS will travel to Jerez next week, which is the venue hosting the first GP of the restarted season, as well as an exceptional test day on the Wednesday before practice starts in which all three World Championship categories and MotoE will participate

“The key to the season will be to be consistent and not make mistakes

“It was a very positive test. Even though we couldn’t ride our race bikes, we were able to make good use of the time and kilometres at this test. I feel very well prepared physically and without a doubt the work we have done on the bike during these weeks will help us a lot in the first races. I can’t wait to get to Jerez and feel the adrenaline of racing again. Despite the changes in the calendar, my goal is the same as it was in March, to fight for podiums and wins every weekend. My biggest hope is to be able to enter the fight for the title and to do this the key to the season will be to be consistent and not make mistakes.”

“I feel good and I’m ready to go for it”

“I am very happy with the pre-season we have done as it has allowed me to test my shoulder and above all, to work on the endurance on the bike. During the lockdown we have all trained hard, but the effort involved in riding can only be worked on by being back on the bike. My shoulder is fine now. I don’t have any pain and I have recovered almost all my mobility and I covered the race distance perfectly. I feel good and I’m ready to go for it. My objective is to compete regularly for the front positions and be able to aim for the title. To do this it will be very important to start well at Jerez because with a calendar of races so close together, the boost of good results will be an important psychological factor for everyone.”
