A technical issue meant Filip Salac qualified 18th for Sunday’s Austrian Grand Prix while Jake Dixon was 20th.

Conditions at the fabulous Red Bull Ring were dry and sunny but slightly cooler than Friday, with ambient temperatures 29 degrees during qualifying.

The pace was red hot throughout Saturday in the scenic Austrian venue, with the outright Moto2 lap record being lowered by 0.4s in qualifying.

The 13th race of the 2025 Moto2 World Championship will be held over 23 laps on Sunday and starts at 12:15 local time.

Jake Dixon, 20th – 1’33.408

After encountering a lack of feel when entering turns on Friday afternoon, Jake and his crew attempted some set-up tweaks ahead of Saturday. He started the day by setting the 18th fastest time in FP2.

The 29-year old made just his second Q1 appearance of the year in the afternoon. But he could only place 6th in the session, missing a spot in the top 4 by just 0.14s.

Despite still lacking crucial front-end feel, Jake is confident of a strong recovery on Sunday at a track where he has scored two podium finishes in the past three years.

“We made a small step forward from yesterday. But the reality was we were so far off it yesterday afternoon and today was a consequence of that. When Friday doesn’t go well, you’re on the back foot on Saturday. I gave it everything I had in Q1 but the feeling just wasn’t there. That was all she wrote sadly. But we’ll put our heads together this evening to try and find a cure for some of the issues we’ve been having. Let’s see how that works out and then get stuck in tomorrow. I’m still hopeful of scoring some decent points in the race.”

Filip Salac, 18th – 1’34.423

After a promising day on Friday, Filip once again showcased his speed in FP2 when he posted the 7th fastest time, just 0.1s back of pace setter Aron Canet.

A technical issue then hindered the Czech rider in Q2. After posting his personal best lap time, he pitted in the hope of remedying the problem.

After some adjustments from his crew, Filip went back on track. But it unfortunately persisted, which means the 23-year old will launch from the 6th row of the grid tomorrow.

“It was a big shame to have this result after such a promising day yesterday. Also, this morning we were feeling strong and I was really confident of a good result in qualifying. The speed is definitely there. Unfortunately, we had a technical issue, which put us out of the game. I’ll give my all tomorrow to do my best and put this number twelve somewhere close to the front.”
