The 21 year old Spaniard will join the team to partner Álex Márquez in the Moto2 World Championship. Team Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS are pleased to officially announce the incorporation of Xavi Vierge to their Moto2 World Championship lineup for the 2019 season.

The rider, born in Barcelona on April 30th, 1997, debuted in the World Championship’s intermediate class in the 2015 campaign. That year he also finished second in the Moto2 European Championship in the FIM CEV Repsol series.

Vierge concluded his first full Grand Prix season as ‘Rookie of the Year,’ and is currently in his third season, lying seventh in the overall standings. He has taken two podium finishes, one pole position and two race fastest laps so far in his career.

Vierge joins Team Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS to partner Álex Márquez in their 2019 Moto2 rider pairing.

Xavi Vierge:
“I’m very happy about this new project. Since I joined the World Championship, the Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS team have always been a reference to follow, as their riders fight for victory every weekend. I’m very grateful for the opportunity that the team and the sponsors have given me. I think that the work by the teams will be decisive next year with the introduction of the new Moto2 engine, which will be new for everyone. I also have a great relationship with Álex Márquez, and I think that our teamwork could make the difference. We’re ready for the challenge.”

Marc Van der Straten:
“Xavi Vierge’s progress during his short time in Moto2 to date shows us that he is talented and competitive, and indicates that he has a great future ahead of him. Team Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS have always had riders capable of aiming for the very top in the Moto2 World Championship, so we believe that, with Xavi and Álex Márquez, we have a great rider combination for next season.”
