Team Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS makes constant progress in Qatar

Augusto Fernandez has completed a productive second day of testing in Qatari territory at the Losail International Circuit today. Fernandez found the ideal base setting to set a strong and consistent pace that left the Spanish rider with a very positive feeling heading into the final day of pre-season testing tomorrow.

  • Sunny conditions and high temperatures once again greeted the Moto2 and Moto3 riders throughout the second day of testing at the Losail International Circuit.
  • Fernandez completed a total of 53 laps and set a personal best time of 1’59.837 on his final lap of an encouraging day.
  • During the morning session, the team’s main area of work was concentrated on evaluating different rear suspension options. In the afternoon, the focus switched to front-end set-up with important work conducted on different fork settings.
  • Riding with used tyres and a full fuel tank to understand the behaviour and performance of the Kalex package in race conditions, Fernandez set a consistent and competitive pace in the high 1’59 and 2’00 low bracket. The number 37 and his team have managed to find a base setting and balance with the bike that has helped him achieve continual improvement with feeling on the Kalex chassis.

“We’ve taken a very important step in terms of race pace”

“I am happy because we have taken a very important step in terms of race pace. We were able to improve our pace with every start and keep it working with a lot of laps on the tyres. I am getting more and more comfortable with the bike and that is very positive, but I still need to complete that fast lap. When we put on a new tyre the times don’t come as easy as they should. Although I am not completely satisfied in this aspect, I am not worried either. We are working hard and we are on the right track. We still have a day to push in that direction and I am convinced we will find the key to improve in that area.”
